We went to see an open-air performance of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale at Newby Hall near Ripon. Newby Hall is famous for its stunning herbacious borders shown here.
It's about an hour's drive from the house.

Lakes near Skipton

We loaded up the bikes on the back of the car and headed for the Lake District yesterday. I was really surprised how soon we arrived - in just over an hour we were at Windermere and it was only two hours to Keswick. From there we cycled round Borrowdale taking in fantastic views of Derwentwater.
